Women’s economic equality: the data
We know that for varied and complex reasons, women face additional barriers and hurdles to achieving their economic potential.
This is clear through:
12.6% gender pay gap
15.4% of women retire with no personal income
Women are more likely to be in casual or part time work
19% superannuation balance gap
Research also tells us that there is a confidence gap. Women feel they can only apply for jobs where they are 100% confident they meet the criteria, whilst men apply for jobs when they are 60% confident. What’s clear is that imposter syndrome and confidence impact women significantly. Especially for women with caring responsibilities.
For this reason we need targeted support, through a gendered-lense to achieve better outcomes for women. Pretending these barriers don’t exist, doesn’t make them go away. We acknowledge these as real issues for women in our community and are determined to do better.
